Installation

This section treats installation for using exisitng Ratatosk functionality. To get started with development off e.g. new Ratatosk components, please refer to the development section.

The executables are provided for Windows and Linux platforms. The executables are built and tested on several platforms. The Linux (Debian) versions are the ones most frequently used in production and therefore more thoroughly tested.

Linux

Debian repositories

On Debian, the recommended way to install Ratatosk executables is to use the debian repositories. This access is limited, so contact Sintef Ocean to acquire a username and password. A file containing the username and password should be placed in e.g. /etc/apt/auth.conf.d/sfhrepos.conf, with the contents:

machine apt.smd.sintef.no
login <USERNAME>
password <PASSWORD>

Installing packages from the repository requires adding the gpg key and an entry in the /etc/apt/sources.list or in a file in the directory /etc/apt/sources.list.d. For debian bullseye and ratatosk release version, this can be done like shown below:

wget -qO - https://apt.smd.sintef.no/sfh-gpg-key.pub | sudo gpg --dearmor -o /usr/share/keyrings/sfh-gpg-key.gpg
echo deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/sfh-gpg-key.gpg] https://apt.smd.sintef.no bullseye-release main > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ratatosk.list

The executables can then be installed by running:

apt update

and one or both of

apt install ratatoskcomponents

and

apt install ratatoskcomponentsextra

Debian direct downloads

Download the desired packages from the links below and install them by running dpkg or apt. Be aware that dependencies must be manually resolved. In particular, the ratatosk component packages depens upon the opensplice package. Manual installation can be done as:

apt install <package_file>

or

dpkg -i <package_file>
apt install -f

Be sure to use full file path, use ./myfile.deb for a file in the current directory. Installation can be verified by checking the directory /opt/sfh/bin.

Compressed files

Download the desired packages from the links below, unpack and install them by running

tar -xzf <compressed_file>

Windows

Download the desired packages from the links below, unpack and install them in the same directory structure, so that their subdirectories are merged (e.g. the bin directories of each compressed file are merged).
